The Abia State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (MoBSE) has officially released the second batch shortlist for the 2025 Teachers Recruitment Exercise, marking another major milestone in the state’s effort to strengthen basic and secondary education.

The second batch shortlist was released on Friday, February 6, 2026, following a comprehensive and fully automated screening of applications submitted during the recruitment process.

Applicants who participated in the 2025 teachers recruitment exercise are required to log in to their personal dashboards on the official Abia State MoBSE recruitment portal to check their application status.

  • NCE holders are qualified for shortlisting

  • Third Class or Pass degrees are not acceptable

  • Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree without NYSC certificate were disqualified

  • Applicants currently serving (NYSC) were not considered

  • Teaching qualification is not compulsory, provided the core academic requirements are met

Next Stage: Computer-Based Test (CBT)

The Ministry has confirmed that shortlisted candidates should immediately begin preparations for the Computer-Based Test (CBT).

MoBSE stated that the CBT and subsequent screening stages will be fast-tracked, as the government intends to conclude the recruitment exercise within a short timeframe. This will enable successful candidates to resume duty promptly in public schools across the state.
