The IFE Institute of Advanced Studies (IIAS) in partnership with LÓRÌ (Lafọgidó Òrànmíyàn Initiative) has announced the IGNITE: Community Innovation Challenge 2026.

This program supports individuals and teams with early-stage innovative ideas aimed at creating community impact across Africa.

If you have a concept, pilot idea, or prototype at the exploratory stage, this is your opportunity to refine and test it.

About the IGNITE Challenge 2026

The IGNITE Community Innovation Challenge is an idea formation program designed to help participants move from:

  • Early-stage concepts

  • A first, testable version of their idea

Applicants are not required to have an existing prototype before applying.

The program supports ideas such as:

  • Physical models

  • Digital tools

  • Service concepts

  • Pilot activities

  • Innovative processes

  • Fellows of IFE Institute of Advanced Studies, Nigeria

  • Individuals or teams from IIAS Hubs

  • Individuals or teams with early-stage ideas

  • Practitioners, creatives, innovators, and grassroots groups

What the Program Will Support

Selected participants will receive support to:

  • Refine and clarify their core idea

  • Translate ideas into practical, testable prototypes

  • Learn through experimentation, iteration, and feedback

  • Prepare a prototype for demonstration or community testing

  • Attend the 10th Annual IFE Summer Institute and 1st IIAS Conference (2026)

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit:

  1. A short concept video description (Not more than 5 minutes)

  2. A brief explanation of the problem or opportunity being addressed

  3. An initial idea of what a prototype could look like

  4. One-page Statement of Qualification (SOQ)

  5. One-page proposed budget

  6. Two-page CV of the applicant

Note: The last three documents must be submitted as a single Microsoft Word document.

By the end of the challenge, participants are expected to have:

  • A clearly articulated idea or concept

  • A basic prototype demonstrating how the idea works
