About the Zero Waste Stories Bank 2026 Initiative
The Zero Waste Stories Bank project is aimed at bringing stories of organizations which are implementing practical circular economy solutions.
Circular economy advocates for closing the loop of waste products through reusing, recycling, and regenerative measures rather than disposing of products immediately after use.
This initiative seeks to showcase the grassroots solutions that are revolutionizing waste management systems and sustainability in the African continent.
The project will be selecting 36 organisations from three African countries, namely;

Kenya
EGYPT
From Lagos alone, 12 organisations will be picked to participate in the programme.
Two representatives from each of the selected organisations shall attend the training and networking activities.

Applicants must meet the following criteria to qualify for the programme:
It should be a legally registered NGO, community-based organisation or social enterprise.
Must be physically located within Lagos;
Must have preceded this for a year in environmental sustainability or waste management
Must operate in work areas related to:

Environmental sustainability
Circular economy solutions
Waste reduction or waste management
Organizations must also demonstrate a form of active participation in community engagements, particularly through programs that are geared towards:
Youth Participation
Women empowerment
Informal waste workers
