Admission Requirements for Undergraduate Studies
● Applicants seeking admission into the first year of any degree course at the university must be qualified for admission before the beginning of the session in which they wish to enter.
● The applicants must meet the general entrance requirements and additional college or departmental course requirements.
● Intending students of the university are advised to go through the admission requirements to ensure that they have satisfied the requirements before they apply for admission.
● Applications for courses leading to first degrees must be made on the prescribed website.
● The minimum age for admission is 16 years.
● Students are admitted into the university degree programs through a competitive entrance examination (Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination – UTME) organized by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
● A candidate must in addition have an acceptable score in the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Examination or a diploma, NCE with at least lower credit.
● The candidate should at least possess a minimum of 5 credit passes at the SSCE or equivalent obtained at not more than 2 sittings in relevant subjects, including English and Mathematics.
● Agriculture Program Requires five credit passes in SSCE/WASC/GCE ‘O’ Level, which must include Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science, Mathematics, Physics, and English Language.
● However, every applicant must have attempted physics and mathematics at the WASC/SSCE/GCE O’ Level.

Probation and Withdrawals
● Any student whose Cumulative Grade Point Average (C.G.P.A.) is below 1.00 at the end of any academic year is placed on probation for one academic year during which he/she is expected to repeat and pass the failed courses.
● If at the end of a period of probation, the student still fails to make the required C.G.P.A. of 1.00, he/she will be required to withdraw from the university for one academic year, after which he/she may apply for readmission. Readmission in this case is not automatic.
Graduation Requirements for Undergraduate Programs
● A student must have taken and passed a minimum of one hundred and twenty (120) credit unit courses for a four-year program, one hundred and fifty (150) credit unit courses for a five-year program, and one hundred and eighty (180) credit unit courses for a six-year program.
● In each case, the student must obtain a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 1.00 (2.00 is required for Doctor in Veterinary Medicine).
● Most programs in the university, however, have a minimum credit load requirement of about 144-168, 180-210, and 216-252 for four-, five-, and six-year course durations, respectively.
Direct Entry
● Admission is based on a combination of ‘O’ level results with the following qualifications:

● OND/ND (Credit)
● NCE (Double Major/Merit Level)
● Candidates with qualifications as in (ii) and (iii) as listed above may be admitted into the 200 level, while those as in (iv) or (v) may be admitted into the 100 level.
● Holders of the ND with a minimum of upper credit passes in addition to O Level credit passes are normally admitted into the 200 level of the program, while holders of HND certificates may be admitted into the 300 level except for the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program.
● The degree duration shown for most programs is for UME candidates. Candidates with ND and HND or their equivalents spend fewer years in their programs (as stated above), e.g., four or three years, respectively, in the B. Agric., compared to five years for UME candidates.
● Candidates applying for the pre-degree programs should possess at least five ‘O’ Level credits in relevant subjects, including English and Mathematics.
